Again, just days before the Israeli-Palestinian negotiations are scheduled to resume, we see an Israeli effort to sabotage any possible progress, even before the talks begin. This time, it is not a military atrocity. This time it’s a decision to build more illegal settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories. It’s a deliberate provocation.
To descourage annexation of territories gained by means of war, article 49 of the 4th Geneva Convention clearly states, “The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.” Doing so is illegal, doing so violates international law. Complying with international law should not be part of negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.
Governments that support Israel are losing ground. Supporting Israeli settlement and annexation policies, supporting the ethnic cleansing of Arab lands by Israel, supporting the apartheid policies of the “Jewish state” clearly violates international law and is, therefore, illegitimate. Governments that continue their support for Israel are either infiltrated or owned by zionists.
