Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said on Sunday the Israeli air strike on a military research center near Damascus aimed at destabilizing his country.
“This aggression exposes the real role being undertaken by Israel in collaboration with hostile external powers and their tools on the Syrian land to destabilize Syria and weaken it,” state-run SANA news agency quoted Assad as saying.
It looks like a message sent to the U.S. government. Israel has been pressing the U.S. to strike Iran and saying that it will do it alone, if the U.S. does not become involved. Barak’s words, “When we say something, we mean it,” are addressed to Washington in context of Israel’s determination to use American military in order to have Iran destroyed.
